Back to The Story I Ever Have (Everything Happens for A Reason)

I don't have certain idea to be shared right now... So, I just want to post my old writing written in some time ago...
Here is the story ^^

June, 23rd 2010 students of International Master Program on Mathematics Education (IMPoME) had a new teacher, Zainal Abidin in Writing Class. In that first meeting he introduced himself in short way where he just told about his family and study. He had three children and he graduated from foreign country.

In the my eyes, my lecturer, Mr Zainal is the modest and faithful man. I can see it from his  thought, his attitude and what his appearance (using simple dress). Things that made me get impressive toward him was how he taught in the class. He is different from many teachers or lecturers I ever met in formal class, where nowadays usually a teacher just teach about the material without involving the material with its values in life especially related to Islamic thoughts.

During the class, I was interested with some activities my lecturer gave for the IMPoME students. For me, they were interesting and made me don’t get bored to be in that class although it was going on around 3 hours. Something impressing me more and more toward Mr Zaenal was every single he said was meaningful. So, it made me give more concern for whatever he said. Even I didn't want to miss each single word he said. O_o Everything  he said or things we discussed in the class was always involved with how Islam's views about it. Really, there are lots of meaningful things I got from since the first time my class taught by him.
There are four activities we had in the class which each of activity was interesting and meaningful. The first activity was all the student had to mention one word in English that was interesting for them and give explanation why they chose that word. Then, we  discussed each word mentioned by each student. This activity made the students enjoy and get useful understanding about the use and the meaning each word discussed. This was because Mr Zaenal also give more explanation about the words.

The second activity was about misunderstanding in communication. My Lecturer gave two different articles with some examples related to the topic we had. In this activity we had to read the articles placed on the wall, so we had to read them by standing. Although we had to stand to read the articles, they made us laugh because the stories  in the articles were so funny and they were about the real fact.

The third activity was writing exercise. Each student was given short article consisting of three passages where there was one passage or two passages omitted. We had to work in a group which consists of two students having different blanked passage. We had to fill  out each blanked passage where in the next time it will be read by another friend in each group. This activity was also interesting because the story in the article was meaningful.

The fourth activity was writing exercise too. We’re ordered to read an article, and then we had to write three simple stories about our own experiences based on an article given for us. What we had to do was to relate what was written in the article with our real experience. So, we could determine whether what was told in the article was right or wrong.
The article is like this:

Everything Happens for A Reason

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they are meant to be there. They serve some sort of purpose like teaching you a lesson or helping you figure out what you want to become. These people can be your roommate, neighbor, professor, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger who, when you look at eyes with his, you know that will affect your life in some profound way.

Sometimes things happen to you and they may be horrible, painful and unfair. But in reflection, you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you will never have realized your potential, strength, will power or heart.

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, great loss and sheer stupidity, occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests – events, illness or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved straight, flat road to nowhere. A safe and comfortable but dull life does not give you anything. Your experiences create who you are. You can learn a lot from them.

If someone hurts, betrays, or break your heart, forgive them for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not because they love you teach you to love and open your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt before. Make everyday count. Appreciate every moment and take it from everything that you possibly can for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people you have never talked before, and listen to them. Let yourself fall in love. Break free and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to do so. Tell yourself that you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don’t, no one else will believe in you.

You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and life it. ^_
